Acoustical Finishes for Open-Plan Design

This course examines the relationship between acoustics and indoor environmental quality in open-plan offices and describes how spray-applied acoustical finishes are utilized to promote occupant comfort and sustainable design objectives.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Describe the role of acoustical finishes in open-plan design.
  2. Examine the relationship between acoustics and indoor environmental quality.
  3. Review LEED v4, WELL Building Standard, Living Building Challenge, and other frameworks that include acoustical performance requirements. Discuss other additional credit categories that impact Indoor Environmental Quality.
  4. Describe effective, design-friendly materials, that can be utilized to provide acoustic performance, and to further sustainable design objectives.
