TAS for Designers and Contractors

This is an Intermediate Level course for design professionals, contractors and owners with a working knowledge of design standards for accessibility. The course provides an overview of relevant ADA and Texas state accessibility standards, reviews the scoping and technical requirements of the Standards along with associated guidelines, rules and laws.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. At the end of this course, participants will have a clear understanding of how the scoping requirements apply to technical requirements and are to be applied during new construction and renovations.
  2. At the end of this course, participants will understand how to interpret and apply accessible design criteria during the construction and alteration of buildings and facilities.
  3. At the end of this course, participants will be able to understand the relationship among the federal ADA standards, IBC and ANSI accessibility standards, and the Texas Accessibility Standards.
  4. At the end of this course, participants will have a working knowledge of the technical requirements regarding accessibility for the most common rooms, spaces, and elements.
