This course serves as a guide to selecting quality, sustainable hardwoods for bespoke furniture and design products by explaining the process of sourcing, harvesting, milling, drying, surfacing, and finishing.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Understand the origins, importance, and reward of utilizing sustainable resources. Committing to environmentally conscious hardwoods increases the welfare of future generations.
  2. Identify properly milled and dried hardwoods. Safety risks are minimized when properly dried wood is selected for projects.
  3. Recognize best practices, treatments, and finishes to maximize longevity of hardwood furnishings. Durable and harmless treatments are important to the health of the clients.
